5 School Lunch-Packing Hacks
School’s back in session, which means so is the chaos. Save yourself some time and money with these 5 school lunch-packing tips!
Freeze PB&J Sammies
Make life easy by making several peanut butter sandwiches and throwing them in the freezer! They keep perfectly in a freezer bag and on chaotic days it’s easy to grab and go! They’ll defrost by lunchtime and are the ultimate hassle-free lunch to have on hand!
Prep Snacks and Sides
Each week divvy up single serving portions of chips, pretzels, crackers, veggies, etc. and keep them in a “snack station” in your kitchen/fridge! They’ll be ready to throw into a lunchbox or grab after school. And by buying bull and portioning them yourself, you’ll save money and have more control over what your kids are eating.
Freeze Drinks
Put water bottles or juice boxes in the freezer the night before. In the morning, you’ll have ice cold drinks for the kiddos that double as ice packs!
DIY Lunchables
Make a fun kids favorite more economical and most importantly, healthier, by recreating them at home! Use a tupperware with multiple compartments and prep them the night before. You can make ones with crackers, lunch meat and cheese (cut small), pizza “lunchables” with flatbreads or tortillas cut into circles, sauce, and cheese, or chicken nuggets with dipping sauce!
Frozen smoothies
Another trick that’s a huge time saver are make-ahead freezer smoothies. Blend batches of smoothies and freeze them in reusable pouches or small mason jars. Pack them in the lunchbox in the morning, and by lunchtime they’ll be the perfect consistency!
