Off to The Races!

Looking for a fun, family-friendly activity in SJ County? Head on out to Delta Speedway Saturdays April-October for a night of fast fun. Delta Speedway is a 1/7 mile dirt oval race track at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds showcasing micro sprints in the Junior Sprint, Restricted, Non-Wing, and Super 600 classes. Sprint car racing dates back to the 1920s when the cars were built out of necessity for “sprint” races that were much shorter than typical grand prix or Indianapolis-style racing. Modern Sprint racing cars are powerful open-wheel race cars with weights of around 1,400 pounds (including the driver) capable of high speeds and exciting maneuverability. These cars typically have a large wing on top to provide downforce and enhance traction and can reach speeds of over 100MPH. The races take place on dirt tracks, which adds an extra element of challenge and requires exceptional driving skills, as drivers navigate tight turns and rapidly changing track conditions.

Delta Speedway Gates open at 1 PM, with qualifying sprints at 6 and the main event at 7:30 PM, and there is food available at the Speed Shack Café Spectators can buy general admission tickets or pit passes that allow you to get up close to the action.
