7 Local Activities to Beat the Heat with the Kids This Summer

Let’s face it, it gets HOT in the Central Valley. With temperatures creeping upwards of 110F some days, sometimes the best way to cope is to be in water or indoors! Luckily, there are places to go and things to do that will entertain the kiddos while staying nice and cool. Check out the list of activities below that you all can enjoy this summer breakeven if it’s sweltering!

 

Paddle Boarding at Lodi Lake

When we think of bodies of water in San Joaquin we immediately think of the Delta, but Lodi Lake is an excellent, calm, and fun place to hit the water! Offering stand-up paddle board and kayak rentals, you can stay cool, stay active, and have a great time. There’s also beautiful walking trails and perfect places for picnics. It’s a perfect slice of nature right in our backyard!

Trampoline Park

Sky Zone in Stockton is a fairly new addition that boasts an awesome time for kids and adults alike. With one section designated to smaller children and another that has dodgeballs, basketball hoops, and foam pits, the whole family can jump, dunk, and flip the day away!

Ice Skating

The best way to stay cool on a super hot day? Get on the ice! Oak Park Ice Arena has been a Stockton staple for almost 50 years, and always guarantees a fun time. Pop in during an afternoon for a free skate session and take advantage of the ultra low temps!

Children’s Museum

The Stockton Children’s Museum is the ultimate interactive experience for your little ones. From a fire truck to a helicopter, a pretend vet’s office to a pretend grocery store, a news casting room to a craft room, this museum is as much fun as a child could possibly have indoors!

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Tower Park

This all new activities park in Lodi is truly the epicenter of fun for the kiddos this summer. They offer tons of features such as pools, water features, mini golf, watersport rentals, a basketball court, sandy beaches, a giant jumping pillow, sand volleyball, arts and crafts and more! They also host weekly events! Grab a day pass or make it a weekend endeavor by renting one of their cabins or camping spots!

Go Bananas

If the little ones are needing to burn off some extra energy, Go Bananas is the perfect place! This indoor jump and play center is located in Lathrop and features several inflatable jumpers to run, climb, slide, jump, and have a ball! They also have arcade games a special area just for toddlers!

Weber Point Water Feature

If you’d like to enjoy the sun skip the pool, bring the kiddos down to the Stockton Waterfront to play with the water feature! They’ll have a blast and you won’t have to worry about them being in a large body of water. Think playing in the sprinklers time 100. Best part? It’s totally free!
